P_205GTi 0 Posted March 1, 2006 ok so my driveshaft seals have gone pop, not a problem but i replaced them theres still leaking. the car wont drive, its goes into gear but wont drive? if i rev it in neutral the speedo goes up as if im driving. when idleing there massive rumble from the gearbox but then dip the clutch and it stops?? help meee please P
Anthony 1,003 Posted March 1, 2006 If the speedo goes up then you're getting drive as far as the differential output - are you sure the driveshafts are in all the way into the differential (if they come partly out it'll leak oil from the diff seals as you're getting)? P_205GTi 0 Posted March 1, 2006 im 90% sure the driveshafts are in fully but i do see you point and i thought it myself. otherwise the speedo wouldnt be reading? really bugging me
dee205 3 Posted March 1, 2006 Jack one wheel off the ground and stick it in gear. See if the wheel and shaft moves... Do the same on the other side. Damien
alex205mi16 1 Posted March 2, 2006 my guess is something terminal in the gearbox... but first go check the shafts are fully in. then check your gear linkages just to make sure nothing is out of place and you are actually in neutral... if your getting drive in neutral i`d say something is pretty fecked.. maybe the oil leaked out of the gearbox dut to crappy seals and now the g box is stuffed? pug_life 0 Posted March 2, 2006 those seals were brand new piers so unless you split one fitting then leaking will be another issue.. driveshafts ok??? its not decided to chew the splines off them has it??? still got the gearbox here if you need it mate and can come down with martyn and get it in one saturday
