Just a quick question folks....I got a cam cover from ebay as i was told that i needed this for pruposes of mot.

I recieved the said item today however to the best of my knowledge there is a part missing....

I think there is a bit that actually goes over the cams as well as this bit that goes at the side of them

I really need this part as my car wont pass mot without it, he also did not supply any of the screws/bolts to fit it either ;)

edit; Image size, please re-read the forum rules you agreed to for image sizes or post a thumbnail.

Graham.

There are three parts to the cam end cover. The plastic back plate, the cover you have in the pic above and a metal strip which latches the other two parts together.

To put the back plate on requires having the pulleys off (which obviously means having the belt off too).

I'm sure other people have gone without the cover - i've seen pictures of them.

Sorry i forgot to mention that I have the metal strip....

The mot centres in this part of the world are very strict on these type of things, a friend who has an mi failed on the fact he had no cover on his...

Rather get the cover on than book a retest as it can take up to 3months over here for a retest date.

If you make a few 'strategic' cuts you can fit the back half of the cam cover onto the head and block with out taking the belt/cam wheels off. Mines been running like this for 3 years after I forgot to put it back on again after swapping the cams and tensioning the new belt.

I assume the other section goes behind the cams which is why you have to take the belt off? I cant seem to find one anywhere!!....check the local amenity site for me to see if you can find the one you threw away...lol
