Central Locking

As above really. Mine is an F plate 1.6 GTI - will this have central locking and if so, what is likely to be wrong as it is nt working. I recently stripped out the alarm/ immobiliser as it was not working.

It was only standard on the 1.9. On the 1.6 it was an optional extra - although a very common one.

I always thought it was standard, and remote central locking was the option. but it is prob as ryan says.

Fair doos, let's assume mine has it anyway, remote or not, when I say lock the door lock, the boot and other door should lock - so if mine ain't, are there any common problems/ areas I should be considering? I suppose, by looking at the inside of door locks with the door panels off, I should be looking for some kind of a motor?

i put e/w and c/l into day all apart from the boot. when u have the door cards off and looking inside the door there will be either a black or grey motor sitting halfway down the door under the door pin. its held on by 2 bolts if it helps

I had a look and before even removing the door cards, I could see that there are no wires going to the doors, so there cannot be any central locking. So I guess that unless one of the previous owners has removed it, my car was never provided with central locking.

same ere, central locking has never been on my car, which is a 1.6 gti F reg. only 2 wires go into the door, and they are for the speaker
