timmsy19 3 Posted February 28, 2006 (edited) sorry have posted it before in misc tech. i have a base spec model with 1.6 alloys on now. used to have 1.9 alloys when i go round a right hand bend the left side of the car seems like its making a moving sound to the left ive checked for wheel clearence and all is fine. it was fine all day sunday while out driving but yesterday it now seems to have a problem. it was also fine when i had the bigger 1.9 wheels on so not sure what is causing it. would it be the rear beam is nackard? if so how wud i be looking at price wise for a 1.6 rear beam? cheers for the help Graham Edited February 28, 2006 by timmsy19
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted February 28, 2006 Standard ride height or lowered? If it was OK with 1.9 alloys but catches now you have 1.6 alloys fitted it might be due to the different offset that they are catching the inner arch. To tell if your current beam is knackered or not, do the usual tests of a rear beam. Stand behind & see if the wheels have signs of camber, do you have suspension travel? If you have is it smooth or are there noises from the back when you drive over speed bumps etc? The price of a new beam will depend on if you want a refurbished one(recommended) or just a replacement. Graham.
timmsy19 3 Posted February 28, 2006 there doesnt seem to be any camber on the wheels and it has travel on the rear beam its also not been lowered yet. i can quite easily get a finger in between the wheel and rear inner arch but with the 1.9's i couldnt which is probably more to do with the 195 tyres on the 1.6 alloys there is 185 tyers
