Ant 2 Posted February 27, 2006 After fitting the gearbox to my engine i moved the engine, and noticed the following on my garage floor Now i'm guessing its out of the gearbox, so ive removed the box.. It kind of fits here, but doesnt seem to click in place. Can someone tell me if this is the correct place. Should it just slide on or do the end bits click over the metal arms ( provviding it should be here ) and is it on the right way.. Cheers
ashley peddle 3 Posted February 27, 2006 im pretty sure thats the right position for it
Alastairh 47 Posted February 27, 2006 Correct place alright, looks to me as if its seen better days. If the clip is broken, pop down Peugeot and buy a new thrust bearing, or if your clutch hasn't been changed for a while and have the funds, fit the whole clutch kit. ashlee205gti 1 Posted February 27, 2006 Clutch release bearing. Looks like its in the right place but im not 100% certain.
C_W 3 1 Cars Posted February 27, 2006 Look like it's fitted fine; the problem is on refitting if you catch the release arm and it moves too far the bearing can come off the arm, even if it doesn't actually fall off the input shaft. I zip tie the arm on mine back so that it doesn't move until I've got the box back on.
Alastairh 47 Posted February 27, 2006 Tbh, i wouldn't even piss about with cable ties. If the clip is broken, may aswell fit a new one, as there around £20 with out disscount at pug new, and if the cable tie falls off etc, you have the hastle of removing the box again. Do it properly first time. Alastair
Dream Weaver 2 Posted February 27, 2006 I think C_W means he cable ties the arm in place so that you cant actually knock it off whilst moving the gearbox, not a permanent fix. I would agree though, replace it.
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted February 27, 2006 Like Chris says, they don't actually clip on the arm that securely & can easily become dislodged. Its in the right place but you look to have gone a bit heavy on the grease on the input shaft, I'd wipe some of the excess off before you refit it again. You used to be able to get the release bearing from GSF; N19300 CLUTCH RELEASE BEARING BX 16/19/D >89 METAL RELEASE BEARING 5.20 N19302 CLUTCH RELEASE BEARING BX 16/19/D 89> PLASTIC BEARING 7.50 I don't know if they still have them though as they haven't been listed in the catalogue for a while now. Graham. Im sure GSf have stopped selling them, i asked GSf (sheffield Branch) for one recently and they said they only sell the complete clutch kit now. Check your local car spares thats where I got mine from, was about £10-£

Mine fell off, but i didn't discover until i had everything back on and i went to adjust the clutch...

ALEX 98 1 Cars Posted March 1, 2006 The release bearing is usually a crappy fit on the fork, once the gearbox is on though it cant come off. the clip is only there to stop the whole bearing spinning.
