Not sure if the same applies on a 309 but on a 205 the diesel driveshafts are the same as the 1.6 GTi but the 1.9 versions are different. If Sam is saying the part no is different on Eurocarparts Id assume the same was true for the 309 as well.

Yes and no.

Originally from Peugeot, the GTi and TD shared the same driveshafts (and hubs/wishbones for that matter). However, the pattern part replacements from motorfactors have different part numbers even though they must logically be the same fitment...

I got a pair of 309 driveshafts from a base diesel based on this after I'd noticed it on the parts CD last year. Even the Cd lists a different part number for a reconditioned driveshaft from Peugeot but I also assume that if they started out as the same thing, why should they differ after a recon?

Hubs ends are the same size on all XU engined 309's unlike the 205 & gearbox end doesn't change for any BE gearboxed Pug afaik.

Graham.

As Graham's said all the 309 XU engined shafts do fit, I ran TD shafts on my RAce car with 200bhp and there still going strong on a 205 now
