Brake Servo Pushrod Adjustment; Tools?

Recommended Posts

Sicknote

I decided to adjust the pushrod inside the brake servo of my 1.9, thinking that I would only need a few smallish spanners, and would be an easy job;

The trouble is that the adjustment lock-nut is not a hex, but is a peculiar shaped fitting, like some sort of female torx.

Anyway, I have not seen this sort of fitting before, so does anybody know what sort of tool is needed to do the job?

Yes, I have done a search!

Thanks,

Thanks for those replies, the reverse torx (or E drive?) seems to be the right sort of shape for the job, but I don't think that a socket would fit down onto the adjustment nut.

I think what is needed is a reverse torx open ended spanner, if such a thing exists.

Of course, I could just go at it with a pair of pliers, but I don't want to round it off;

Can anybody who has done the job enlighten me?

Thanks.

I did just grip mine with a pair of pliers, but you do run the risk of rounding it off, mine was really VERY tight. I was in a hurry at the time though and needed to get it done. Get the correct tool if you can, they always come in useful later! :)
