Guest naughtymutt Posted February 23, 2006 Does anyone know where to get a headlight earth point as they have perished on my pug. Or does anyone know the pug part number for them.

pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted February 23, 2006 There is a block on either side of the front panel just inside of the headlamps, a good mod is to remove this & crimp ring terminals onto the wire ends & fit them directly to the body using the bolt from the earth point. Graham.
Paintguy 0 Posted February 23, 2006 That mod is definately high on my list of things to do Graham. It's currently pot luck which combination of headlights/spots/fogs or flashers work at any given time! Jiggleing the earth block about normally sorts out whichever light isn't on, but causes a different one to stop working!

I did it a few years ago, on both sides, also sorts out the horn, screen washer pump etc.

Guest naughtymutt Posted February 24, 2006 If anyone is interested, I was quoted £5 for each earth point at my local Pug dealer today. but you have to buy 4.

Ahl 4 Posted February 25, 2006 I tried getting a good connection on the earth point and plugs a while back. It helped a little. but yesterday I crimped the wires on one side to a ring terminal and bolted it on, and I can see that that side is brighter than the other. Guest naughtymutt Posted February 27, 2006 am I correct in thinking I just cut off the pug connection, crimp on the rings terminals and bolt it to the chassis... yes?
Simes 248 2 Cars Posted February 27, 2006 (edited) am I correct in thinking I just cut off the pug connection, crimp on the rings terminals and bolt it to the chassis... yes? Yep, remove the OE yellow earthing point. Cut of the terminations from the wires Re-terminate with the ring terminals. Using the original bolt that held the earthing point on put the rings over this and tighten up. Edited February 27, 2006 by Simes
