d-9 0 Posted February 22, 2006 After a few teething problems, and a long phone call to MattSav, my KMS is working perfectly The auto mapping is very sweet, you can see it adjusting the fueling and its noticably more driveable after about 15miles. charlie_sav 0 Posted February 22, 2006 the ecu will self map on it's own all the time which is the good bit, after 20 seconds the wideband sensor is ready so it will run your cold starts and will allways correct if you compensation maps are not quite right, good to go into the system every now and again just see see if every thing is working right, airfilter not blocked fuel pump going down etc, Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Also, when you have found 'your' map, remember to set a treshold so that the KMS only can adjust within a 10% range (for example). That will prevent disaster in case of a faulty WB. If it's anything like an Autronic, you set the desired target AFR for a particular load/RPM point, allowing full mapping in a 20 minute drive. This function doesn't come cheap however, at approx. AUS$2000 for the Autronic analyzer. Mattsav 1 Posted February 23, 2006 It has a AF target for every Speed & Load site. You know roughly what you are looking for for most engines 14.7-15.4:1 on part throttle ramping up to 12.7-13:1 on full throttle. If the ECU detects its trying to run at max or min allowed correction continuosly for 5 seconds then it assumes the lambda has failed and adds a preset amount to the base map. You can configure an AUX port to be used a management error light (shift light is probably best. If it stays on continuosly then the ECU has logged a fault with something). smckeown 1 Posted May 19, 2006 As the completion of my buikld is iminent I have been thinking of the KMS closed loop lambda control. Am I right in thinking the benefits will be: 1 - great initial map before it's on the rollers. From day 1 it will have a good map, therefore no danger of any issues during run in period and onto the RR mapping sesion 2 - Will reduce RR time (therefore cost), as the maps are already filled, I assume the mapper would eek out the last x% then i'd take closed loop off and just run the dash display ? taffycrook 2 Posted May 20, 2006 Self map my arse my ign ecu has been sat in my shed for a year now and i still get lost every time I cross the seven bridge!! But I intend to fit it on my latest project and will also do a guide, it is this area that is critital to max engine performance fuel has a much larger window than ign, i will use a wide band lambda to jet the carbs before the rolling road session.
