Briaded Brake Lines

Recommended Posts

Dixon

I've gone through about a years worth of braided brake threads but still a little unsure what I'm about to order.

I'm just about to put gti-6 front brakes and a 309 rear beam on to my 1.6gti and want to run braided lines.

Does this kit on rally design have it all or do i require more? ( http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog/produ...products_id=385 )

Also read that with the 307/gti6 set up that longer lines are needed, will these be long enough?

Cheers.

Have you kept the 1.6 setup with a single copper line going to the rear? If so then the hoses that go round the rear beam are different (well, one of them is). You'd need a 1.6 set + the 2 rearmost hoses from the 1.9 set. Give Rally Design a ring and see if they'll make up a set with what you want. If they won't I'm pretty sure goodridge will.

On the other hand if you've replaced all the brake lines with the 1.9 setup (2 pipes going to the rear and seperate compensators) then the 1.9 set will fit fine.

I'm still using the 1.6 setup from the front to the rear and sticking with the 1.6 compensator.

Will the fronts be long enough and fit with the gti-6 brakes?

Many on here will say that they are not long enough but I have Gti 6 calipers & 1.9 Braided lines on mine and have had No problems with them and I have had them on for many years.

I'll give it a go and see how tight it looks then.

Just a little concerned about flying into a bend and loosing my brakes.

Thanks.

Are the 1.6 and 1.9 front lines the same?

no seriously dont worry, youll see when you fit them, theres tonnes of room even on full locks, it doesnt even get near to touching the strut. My only thought was that maybe if people didnt have lowered suspension this may affect the distance from arch to caliper?! just a suggestion, but im sure youll find them fine.
