205mattgti 0 Posted February 22, 2006 Hi all was looking at putting a pug 306 xsi engine into my pug 1.9 205gti, does anyone no if the engine is a straight swap and r the engine mounts the same as the 1.9 8v engine. cheers for ur help matt
Dom9 2 Posted February 22, 2006 I'm guessing this conversion would be similar to the GTI-6 engine conversion that Maxi and others have done... Since it is meant to be roughly the same engine! A quick search in this forum and the general forum should answer your questions! Hang on, thats on the assumption that you are talking about the 16v XSi (like I have)... If it's the 8v then swap your inlet manifold, cam cover etc and bolt it straight in... A search for XU10 on here should answer your questions!
jim205GTI 3 Posted February 22, 2006 From what i have been told the 16v xsi engine is just simply an untuned gti6 engine so it should fit in with a few modifications ( i think?) have been told a gti6 exhaust manifold on the xsi would realease a few more horses
Guest andy309goodwood Posted February 22, 2006 lol its an 8v incidently its the xsi that i wasnt allowed to post in the for sale section for £500 and the 306 its in comes with it in mint condition
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted February 22, 2006 If it's the 8v it should fit without too many problems, The exhaust D/P might need adjusting as the engine block is slightly taller
Dom9 2 Posted February 23, 2006 (edited) lol its an 8v incidently its the xsi that i wasnt allowed to post in the for sale section for £500 and the 306 its in comes with it in mint condition And I just paid £2250 for my 16v... Would have probably had that off you! Anyway... Do some searches on here for the XU10J2 head then and you should get plenty of conversion tips... The block should mount on the same points as the old engine... You can then just use the GTI cam and management, with the inlet manifold etc, which makes the conversion pretty much plug and play....
