Engine Not Starting, Could It Be The Ignition Barrel?

hi,

 

my car was running fine, starting no problem, then one day i got into turned the key, and the spring in the igntion barrel to reset the key back to the normal stage, broke, sot eh kep stays at the staring stage: now my car wont even start, and the starter motor will not turn or anything. You can here the fuel pump click and fuel pumping for a short while, but nothing at all from the starter motor!! i have an immobliser, a card/key type one, it completes the circuit for the fuel pump/starter as you can here it click as you put it in!!! could it be my immobliser?

 

What can it be?

If the ignition barrel wasn't returning properly you might've burn't the starter solenoid out when you last drove it so its now won't do anything.

 

I'd try a new ignition barrel & starter first.
