Cti/cj Window Seal - Drivers Door

Recommended Posts

Frequentflyer

Hallo all, and especially those Forum members with a cabriolet,

The window seal on my drivers door broke into two pieces about two years ago, and the gap (which is on the outside part) has slowly become wider, it is now nearly one inch long :P - the rubber must be shrinking! - therefore potentially allowing rain into the inside of the door.

Just in case anyone wonders which seal I am talking about, it is the one that runs horizontally along the top of the door frame, starting at the front on the inside of the door (by the mirror handle), back round the trailing edge of the door and then up to the outside front of the door - just by the door mirror.

I have three queries:-

1. Any tips for removal - how the old seal is secured? What else should I remove?

2. Any tips in how to secure the new/second-hand one (which arrived this morning) - I bought 2nd hand on eBay, as the local Pug dealer quoted £160 for one new seal!)

3. Any tips on how to care for the rubber of the replacement seal - either before I install it and/or after installation - to try and stop this happening again.

All advice most gratefully received.

Thanks

Roy

Hi roy

i had the same problem with my cabriolet, I bit the bullet and brought 2 new ones from Peugeot, as all cabriolets i have seen have all shrunk to some extent, so did not even bother looking for second hand ones.

They are dead easy to fit they just lift out takes about 5 mins a side, when the old ones are out you will see the clips and its easy to see how they work. you might have to take inside wing mirror cover off and loosen wing mirror to get rubbers to fit properly.

Hallo Vern,

Thanks for the advice. Maybe buying second hand will prove to have been a false economy, but I will see how it goes.

Cheers

Roy
