Octane Boost

due to it being pretty hard to find super unleaded near home, i'm thinking about getting a delivery of Tetraboost. has anyone used this stuff?

also it claims that you can raise the Ron as high as 106. is there any reason why i couldnt mix up a batch of say 102 and use it in my 1.9. is there much to be gained?

do i just keep advancing the timing with the dizzy? or is not that simple.

cheers

andy

Used to use some octane booster called " Silkolene Pro Boost". I know that this does work very well although it is not nice stuff ( stand behind car or breath it in you get sore eyes, headaches etc etc ) the alternative I have found is to use avgas, luckly I can get this cheaper than super unleaded, although this is for a veary high competition engine.

You could either run unleaded and knock your timing back a touch ( diff in performance is not as great as it feels ). Useing and octane booster will help and as you say you can advance your timing to suit, although it is a pain as sods law says that you will not always be able to get octane booster when you most want it.

I throw the odd cup or two of Pro Boost into the tank every now and then.

Don't know if it does much but it makes the car gargle more when you let of the trottle.

This may be true on a 1.6 but for a 1.9 you have to retard it quite a lot and isn't good for economy or power. Makes the car feel flat and IMHO if you are buying a performance car there isn't much point in dulling that for the price of decent fuel.
