e30m3 0 Posted February 20, 2006 (edited) Will my car ever stop braking. December last year the cam belt snapped as i had a trackday booked we chucked a 2nd hand head as we didn't have time to check and replace the valves beacuse everywhere was shut over x-mas. January Head gasket go's, prob due to the not having the head skimmed because everywhere was shut. So take original low millage head have the valve ground in, pressure tested, skimmed and put it back on. Febuary - The allen key bolt which hold the braket for holding the cam in place comes loose, gets wedged between the cam and head/valve. This holds the valve open which hits the piston, the cam pulley comes off as it snapped the bolt. So head comes back off valve replaced, new pully and cam belt started it and it ran but is leeking alot of water into the bore. Can a bent valve damage the head or is it more likely to be a faulty head gasket or disturbed linner? Edited February 20, 2006 by e30m3
Richie-Van-GTi 71 2 Cars Posted February 20, 2006 it is possible the head warped slightly as is piston liner being slightly displaced, whatever the problem your looking at the head coming back off, I would have it pressure tested and level checked just for peace of mind before refitting aswell as checking the liner is fully located, maybe even replace the liner seals whilst I was there.
