Guest callumlj Posted February 20, 2006 i want to fit a k&n type air filter to my 1.6 gti. What is the easy way to do this as i am not too good with cars lol. I look througt the past posts and notice that i can buy a bx induction pipe or shortern mine. What would be the easy one for me has anyone got a induction pipe they dont need. thanks
Leon 24 Posted February 20, 2006 Modifying the induction pipe is pretty easy. All I did was cut a section out of it, bore two holes in for the oil breather and SAD feed and siliconed them in place. Does the trick!
d-9 0 Posted February 20, 2006 Its much easier to get a real K&N pipe, put up a wanted ad, plenty of people will have them (i have a spare myself but no idea where). Fitting a K&N is pretty easy, ignore the old men that will say its pointless and doesnt give u any power...they sound cool
notamondayfan 44 Posted February 20, 2006 and it also un clutters ur engine bay, much better than having the tubing running over the engine. i neva really understood y peugeot put the filter at the bk of the engine bay, when the engine is rotated so the intake is facing forward? pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted February 20, 2006 You don't need the pipe from a BX as the throttle body is a different shape & it won't fit the 8v TB. There are two articles on the main website with instructions on how to make your own induction shortener, mine is here. The only reason for doing this really is to make access to certain bits easier as it doesn't improve the engines power, all you change is the iinduction noise. If you fit one you need to book your car into a decent rolling road to have the fuelling adjusted to suit so your car isn't running lean with thie new induction system. Graham.
