Dino 3 Posted February 19, 2006 I was thinking about taking some clocks apart that I have spare as I'd like to use the speedo unit from the spare into the clocks in my car as the ones in my car are in better condition (not so scratched and needles aren't faded) Has anyone dismantled their clocks and then put them back together and if so are there any potential pitfalls? Also when I originally bought my current 205 3 years ago there were various OE spares in the boot (previous owner worked for Pug) and in one of the Peugeot boxes is a BRAND NEW oil pressure gauge and fuel gauge unit! I didn't realise that you could buy them in seperate pieces. Any one care to elaborate/advise? Cheers
j_turnell 137 3 Cars Posted February 19, 2006 Yes mate they come to bits quite easy, you need to remove the outer plastic cover which clips on iirc, then you can get access to the small 5-6mm bolts that hold everything together. Theres some on the back of the clocks and the front. The whole speedo unit can be removed, ive recently done this on a set of 309 clocks that show the amounts under the dials, i used my exsisting speedo unit to retain my mileage, also the rev counter and other parts can be removed, its just a bit fiddly. You need to be careful when removing the needles and mark where they sat to get them back in the right place otherwise revs etc will be miles out. A very fine flat head screw driver proves very useful for the screws on the front, also for gently prising the actual dial cover off because often this has some glue holding it in place.
