A18_RYU 0 Posted February 18, 2006 hey all, i am picking up some nimrods off a friend soon, and they are off the 206 GTi. am i right in saying that the 206 gti ones have an offset of 25? if so, looking on the team dynamics website, 16" wheels on a 205 should be offset 18? really quite confused about what i need to get in order to fit these wheels to my XS. can someone point me in the right direction? thanks
pug_ham 245 3 Cars Posted February 18, 2006 No, 206 ones need a spacer to give the correct offset. The 206 offest is 25 like you found & the 205 is 18-19 depending on where you believe. Its the ones from a 406 that are a straight fit to a 205. Graham.
A18_RYU 0 Posted February 19, 2006 so what spacers do i need?
Sam 4 Posted February 19, 2006 I always thought the 206 was 28mm, if so you'll need 10mm hubcentric ones, which can be bought from ebay. You're going to have "fun" fitting those wheels to the rear of a base model. Its possible with 195/40/16 tyres, made by Continental, Dunlop, (another brand I can't remember) and now Toyo I hear. I've just ordered my wider rallye arches for mine, I'll post how I get on modifying the rear arches to suit my 8" 16s, you should have an easier time of things with the 7"(?) 206 wheels. Sam 4 Posted February 19, 2006 Its because the rear arches of a base model don't offer much clearance for wheels. Maximum you can run really is a 15"x6.5 (perhaps 7) with 195/45, if you were to go for 16 then really I think only 195/40 tyres would fit and clear the arch, even then you have to remove some of the "excess" metal. If you use spacers yes you'd need bolts, but you normally get them with the proper kits.
A18_RYU 0 Posted February 22, 2006 is this the right spacer? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/4-Hole-Wheel-Spacer-...1QQcmdZViewItem
Guest smokinslim Posted February 23, 2006 That would be the cheapo option (not hubcentric), this is what you want preferably: Clicky! 15"x7 with 195/50s will fit if the rear beam is normal height, you'd have problems with any serious ass on the back seat tho lol. Lowered 60-70mm on the back the arch is sat on the tyre. I changed my beam today, means i can finally use the new 7" rims i've 3 months now I'll post a pic or two when they're on. A18_RYU 0 Posted February 23, 2006 the link you given me are hubcentric ones......?? they are the way to go no?
Guest smokinslim Posted February 23, 2006 the link you given me are hubcentric ones......?? It's the auction title give it away isn't it... 'HUBCENTRIC WHEEL SPACER KIT' There was a topic a few weeks back (a search should find it) about spacers and was quite well discussed. Basically the hubcentric spacers offer much more strength and support than the cheaper spacers.
