Mi Won Start

Recommended Posts

Gavin Waddell

recentlz fitted my mi in and it wont start.

so first thing i did was searched the forum which gave me some possible solutions which i tried but to no avail ;)

it running the bx 3,1 loom and 205 sensor loom. now i connected 2a and 112 from the 205 loom to the white connector (cut it out and connected red 2awith zellow and 112 to green) these then run of to the coil.

the yello wire from the bx loom for the fuel pump relay was connected to white 76(i think) on the 205 loom .

and the big phat blue one to battery.

now i have no spark nor fuel pump, i omlz get the pump if a plug 32a from the 205 brown multiplug and then it runs continously.

i dot understad the coil is new from peugeot.

please help i did search honestly

thanks gavin

got it starrted i had crossed the throttle position switch with the tdc. now it runs i cant turn it off . weve worked out that there is a brown wire off the ing module that needs to have 12v to start and earth to stop.

now its running the bx loom does anz one know where this wire connects too

The brown wire of the ignition module I have always earthed, permenently.

To get the BX loom working I have always done the following:

Thick blue wire with spade on the end near AFM plug - permenent 12v on battery

Two grey wires near injector plugs -earthed onto injector rail

Brown wire near ignition module - earthed onto backplate of ignition module

Yellow wire wire near ecu plug - onto wire 76 fuel pump.

Thick yellow wire in white plug near ignition module - switched live from ignition

Thin blue/green wire in same white plug as above - rev counter.

If all the above are connected properly, you should hear the igntion relay in the bx loom click on when you turn the key on. Powering up the thick yellow wire powers the ecu so u can start the car, disconnecting it stops the engine.

(If you just wanna get it running, then wiring a cheeky wire onto the battery like my side-of-the-motorway bodge will do the trick, but you have to disconnect the wire to stop the engine)

its all plugged in like that d9 i used wire 2a for the yellow bx wire to ing module. and 112a for rev counter.

and the fuel pump is pugged into 76 at the fuse board. the onlz waz it works is if i wire the fuel pump with 32awhich is switched live on the 205 loom and then it runs continouslz?

does the 2 row ecu run 4 wires for the ing module and the 3row ecu run 5. as i have a wireing diagram for the one that has 4 wires running into it.

im going to look at it at the weekend

OK, try going through the diagnostic manual:

http://www.oddenhillfield.demon.co.uk/dg/1...i-injection.pdf

Sounds like the fuel pump relay isnt turning on, so might be a dodgy relay, all your wiring seems sensible, but it should defo be a case of wiring wire 76 or 76a (depending on where you wire it in, 76a is in the 205s brown multiplug under the steering cloumn, i use that because it is fused) to the yellow wire with a white female spade on the end next to the mi16 ecu plug.

right, i got it started and it souneded sweet. but the fuel relaz ran continously so i decied to fault find and now it wont start again i have no spark.

so i changed the tdc sensor and no joy. when i was fault find i was using wire 32a which is switched live, to power the relays is there any chance i cound of fried the ecu, i was kind of jabbing it in to every wire.

the plugs are wet which would indicate the tdc and ignition moudule are working and the ecu is pulsing (contradicting my staatement above). and when i chek the plug at the coil i get 12v on 2 and 5v on the other 2, it should be 12 on all 4 then -12 on 2 when cranking. if i check using a scredrive in the ht lead nothing happens but when i turn off there is a small spark, the coil is brand new from peugeot.

i am puzzled it started the othere daz and now nothing.
