Deano1.6 0 Posted February 17, 2006 ok, I've got a very annoying problem with my 1988/ 1.6GTi, When i'm accelating or just trying to cruise along i get a jerky motion, the only way i can describe it is its like when the AFM is playing up but its not that bad, i had this problem before and it turned out to be that air was being sucked in the hole in the inlet manifold where the oil filler bottle bolts to, i sorted that and it ran fine/100% but recently it has started again i have done been chasing round looking for any where that unmetered air could be being sucked it but have found nothing and so i am starting to wonder if its an electrical problem. My reason for this is that 90% of the time it is running badly and my interior and exterior lights pulsate but last night when i left work my lights were constant and the car ran completly fine and it was a real pleasure to drive but this morning it was back to its normal lights pulsating and jerky. I don't know alot about the electrics in a 205 but could i have an electrical problem that is affecting the ignition or injection? could it be the earthing? Any help would be much appriciated because i'm losing my temper with it now but when it works like it did last night the car is fantastic to drive. Miles 331 1 Cars Posted February 17, 2006 If you were getting pulsing with the lights the Alt brushes could be on there way out therefore not supplying a good voltage to the ECU, Check the +ve lead from the Alt to Starter and then the battery for any poor connection's as well. Worth checking the Dizy cap etc first before going any further
