Revs Dropped, Backfired Now Sick!

Recommended Posts

Guest SmokingMesaMan

Hi all, wonder if anyone can help with the following:

Was driving down the motorway (and had been for 130 miles) at a nice easy 75Mph when all of a sudden, no warning, the car kinda died as though I'd changed down a gear (without the revs increasing) for maybe a couple of seconds and then a VERY loud backfire from the exhaust. I then cruised it home at 50-60Mph. Now the cars running real bad, it's not firing up so easy (although it hasn't failed to), under acceleration it's stuttery as hell - although under HARD acceleration not so bad. It doesn't sound like it's misfiring (ie it seems to be on all 4 all the time). It's not the usual juddery pug either it's much worse...flooring the accelerator seems to help.

New battery, leads, plugs, alternator, dizzy and coil.

HELP!

These Pugs do my head in, never owned such an unreliable car.

I concur, try the coil and/or dizzy as well.

Does it seem to be over fueling?

If so I would check the AFM cables and connector as I had the same sysmptoms and it was a corroded AFM cable.
