Simon B 3 Posted February 16, 2006 Hi everyone, I've literally only just bought my 205 mi16, and im booked on a track day at Bedford next weekend. What oil do you guys recommend for these engines, especially given that its gonna get a hard time on track? All thoughts will be appreciated.... Motul is 15 - 50, same sort of spec as mobil one (the more gloopy one), and the silkolene is 10 - 40 (ever so slightly better...... Bit like a chcolate eclair and an eccles cake.. both fill the hole, but they both do a good job of it. It was the smell of the Motul that won me over haha. (mobil 1 is not an ester. i.e. not as good & more expensive) If you cann't justify the expense of this oil or your pug consumes a lot of oil then use a good quality 10/40, 15/50 or 20/50 mineral oil (ie valolene 20/50 race (for serious track use) although the pro s is far better at protecting your engine. If your car is modded or used on track then don't use semi synthetic, use fully synthetic. In these cases a 5w-40 or 10w-50 will be the correct oil dependent on state of tune. Cheers Simon Ah, i hoped you might see this and add a contribution! Well in my case, the engine is pretty much standard (or so im told although it does go rather well ) and will be used on track!
