Recommended Posts

carbers205

hi guys

im now running a 405 and am in the process of upgrading the standard speakers.

i was just wondering if there is any difference in wiring between 2-way and 3-way speakers, ie could i use the existing wires to my standard speakers on new 3-way ones?

cheers

andy

may i first congratulate you on your choice of car :)

the wiring should be the same, the 3ways may have a seperate tweeter which is wired to the speeker anyway with a bass blocker in line (some resistor chippy thingy)

my amp runs a thicker cable upto the doors then its standard cable to the speaker(couldnt be bothered routing it properly!) works fine

Yes. It's just a +ve and -ve that goes into your speakers. The fact your new speakers are 3-way has nothing to do with the wiring. 3 way is 3 parts of sound from the speaker (low/mid/high) , it's not how you wire it.
