Mi Being Weird! Please Help

Could really do with some advise, im totally puzzled!

Rite, it starts fine high idle then comes down to just under 1k

But when idling you can hear a slight miss from the exhaust and the engine rocks a tiny bit.

Driving is fine gets up to temp well and stays at a good temp, best its ever been until you stop (eg to get some fuel) then it starts fine but feels really lumpy, it misses, backfires and when i put a load on it sometimes stalls!

Really have to ride the clutch and rev it to get it going, and when it is going you can feel the engine jumping all over the place (makes me look like a learner!) Then after a couple of minutes of driving its fine again, that is until you get to lights then it starts doing it again.

Also when i let off when driving it feels lumpy as the car slows?

Really bugging me

Going to look for an air leak but if its not that im stumped

Done a search and ive replaced most of the common problem parts

Its had new

Coil

Temp sensor

Ht leads

Plugs

Ign amp

Any ideas please

Yet again its back in the garage with the bonnet up and my girlfriends moaning

maybe needs a re-tracking of AFM?

Simplest way to check for an air leak is remove air filter, cover end with strong piece of plastic thats a lot bigger than the hole - if the engine carries on running then its got an air leak.

Nice little test that, will give it a whirl, got my doubts tho because it wouldnt really explain the temp thing

cheers

My first guesses would have been coolant temp sensor and inlet temp sensor but you done them.

Does sound strange!

Yeh i agree, feels like a sensor throwing it all out.

havent heard of an inlet temp sensor tho, ive only changed the blue temp sensor because the emissions where high.

cheers il do a search

As said above, afm is possible, fairy sure thats whats causing the hesitance and running problems on mine.

Other obvious one is the cap and arm.

Recently my low speed hot misfire which got much when on track (ie hotter) and became a misfire at all revs turned out to be a rotor arm. My old one didn't look worn but the new one cured the misfire completely.

Ah thats an idea, hadnt really thought of that because the cap and arm are pretty much new although saying that they are non gen from a place called cas, so that could be an issue

Will replace them both as a process of ilimination

afm is also something i hadnt thought of, will give it a clean and check track.

fingers crossed, will spend a day on it tommorow.

thanks for taking the time to give me some advice

will keep you all posted

cheers

sounds like its running rich on idle to me, id definetly check the coolant temp sensor and retrack the afm too

worth looking at the plugs to see what state they are in too this will give you a clue

Rite at last i think ive sorted it :D fingerscrossed

hopefully this will help someone in the future,

the problem ive been having has got progressively worse to the fact that it failed to start at all :)

after cleaning the spark plugs, cleaning all earths and electrical contactsand the afm, i found the multiplug in the coil looked a little dodgy!

a changed it for one i had on a spare loom at it fired up first time and runs like a dream (for know anyway)

Also changed the cap an arm because although they were new they were mickey mouse, this has also made a massive difference

So might be worth checking if your having the problems

Thanks for everyone help

Fallen in love with the pug again :)

cheers
