Edd-XS 0 Posted February 11, 2006 will they fit? it looks to me like the speedlines are a et15 offset and the fondmetals in question are an et19, please correct me if im wrong! will this cause rubbing at all if im right, there isnt exactly bags of room on the standard alloys as it is! Edd-XS 0 Posted February 11, 2006 ok nice one. ET11 on a 309 rear beam? yay or nay? Thanks! Edd
Hilgie 16 2 Cars Posted February 11, 2006 would be a tight fit
Anthony 1,003 Posted February 11, 2006 A very tight fit - standard 1.9 GTi wheels are ET19 and will touch the inside of the plastic arch trim on bumps, so you're talking another 8mm per side wider and a fairly hard clobbering of the trim with the ET11 wheels (especially given how low I remember you car being). Henry Yorke 269 3 Cars Posted February 11, 2006 Fondmetals are also 7J wide IIRC compared to the 6.5J of a Speedline. I think you will be on a loser with this one
Redtop 14 2 Cars Posted February 11, 2006 I know that with my dads 205 1.9gti back in the day, that he had fondmetals on his and when it was lowered it did scobe badly, so he had to change back to speedline wheels. That would of been when they were new so he wouldn't of had a 309 beam in it either. Hope that helps ya.
Col 0 Posted February 12, 2006 this is mine on 195 45 15 tires, lowered 50-60mm on a 1.6 205 beam
C_W 3 1 Cars Posted February 12, 2006 They sit out by about 20mm more than a speedline due to the 8mm offset plus 1" extra wheel width.
ablister 31 Posted February 12, 2006 rab elliot had fondmetals on his 205 with 309 rear beam

Edd-XS 0 Posted February 12, 2006 haha no i love my 309 beam to death. will probably spend the money on a 1.6 box even though a set of fondmetals would finish the look of my 205 off a treat (in white of course!). ahh if only money grew on trees! Edd
Dino 3 Posted February 13, 2006 Yeah lose the 309 beam.
