yorkshirekowboy 19 1 Cars Posted February 9, 2006 hi, my bottom end has gone on my 1.9 (1.6 still ok) and i was wondering if the Citroen ZX 1.9i engine was the same engine, alloy block, bhp, everything: the same as the pug 1.9 engine? as i have a mate selling one, and if it doesnt match the same performance, i woouldnt want it!! Its off an Lreg i think!! Thanks

Anthony 1,003 Posted February 9, 2006 L reg would have been a 2.0 engine rather than a 1.9. The 1.9i Volcanes were from G/H reg through to the last ones being registered on an early K plate (most K plates are 2.0's with CAT). They are the same engine fundementally as the 1.9 GTi non-CAT but they run much better engine Motronic M3.1 management. I say "fundementally" because it does have a different engine code (D6B XU9JA for the 1.9 GTi, and D6E XU9JA/L for the ZX 1.9 Volcane IIRC) and a few minor differences like the manifold and thermostat housing, but it's pretty much identical otherwise.
