Radster 0 Posted February 9, 2006 Well after failing my MOT today im faced with changing a few bits over again. So tomorrow myself and ANDYGON will set about changing both wishbones and the steering rack. Is the rack an easy job? Ive done it before on the XS I had so I assume its a similar task, not powersteering or anything. Can anyone confirm this to be correct? Cheers. Rad
ANDYGON 6 Posted February 9, 2006 also what type of rack it is that we will need. Radster's car is a 89 F reg GTi so this should be a circular pinion as oposed to the square pinion that was fitted 1990 onwards.
jackherer 543 Posted February 9, 2006 not much more to say really, it should be a round pinion and it should be an easy job, the rack is the same as the XS in every way AFAIK. The wishbones are obviously different, but GTI ones should be easier than the XS type so you shouldnt have any probs there either, just make sure you tighten the inner bolts with the wheels on the ground.
