Which Spark Plugs For A Standard Mi

Recommended Posts

kenan

I recently changed my spark plugs and since have had a few problems. When I went to get them didn't know which ones I needed and nor did the motorfactor LOL Just wanted to check I have the right ones or to replace them to see if I can solve the problem (misfiring when getting hot on motorways)

So what plugs did you go for then, and how did you come to decide on which plugs? Why not re-fit your old plugs? Did you not make a note of that the old plugs were and get the same? Any decent motor factor will have the specs for the 405 Mi16 so they should have been able to tell you the right spark plug for that engine...

As said, and Motor Factor should be able to advise - Halfords have a spec. sheet for most things, although I often find that they don't stock Mi plugs (certainly NGK).

NGK part # BCP7ET.

Misfiring - I'd also check for dampness in the plug holes, or a dodgy ignition amp.

Problem is I cleared out me garage and threw away the old plugs + box the new ones came in. Will try to take one out later to check which exact ones they are. They were triply point NGK's, don't know the part no. I'm assuming due to it only happening when the engine is hot that I need a hotter rated plug??

I didn't decided which ones to get as didn't have a clue and let the motor factor chose the ones they thought were correct.

I did have water in there and was planning to put WD-40 on the leads etc later today when checking the plugs before replacing them.

that sounds like the right plugs, I cant see the motor factors randomly guessing that it needs NGKs with triple electrodes so he must've had it in his book or something.
