Problems With The Electronics Assembly ...

Recommended Posts

Dandu

Hi mates,

recently I had to face a rather serious problem with my electronic assembly. Unfortunately it has become everyday life.

After starting up the engine, every (as far as I realise) electronic component is working improperly. The headlights are running with half the usual intensity, the same for the cockpit lightning, the fans, the heating of the rear window and so on. Today I had to figure out another effect (fortunately not as regular as the others): the engine inclines to starve.

Usually there's only one help: accelerating. Revving up the idle to at least 3.000 rpm results in a kind of revitalisation. Suddenly the system is coming up, just like "onboard the enterprise when Scotty fixed some serious energy problems." :)

Can anybody imagine the reason? Does my dynamo / electric generator want to say goodbye?

Much thanks for your help!

Bye Dandu

If you've got a multimeter, check the alternator is charging properly - often when they give grief of the warning light wire comes off, they'll refuse to charge until you rev the engine to 3000rpm or so then they'll spring into life again...

If the alternator looks OK, check the condition of the earths.

Alternator &/or your battery are close to death.

I had this on mine recently & it was the battery, drove a few miles on dark roads with what seemed like less than sidelights & suddenly they came good after 10 minutes of driving.

Also last week when I was jump starting a neighbours car my alternator wasn't charging much over 12v either. I'm swapping it tomorrow.

Graham.
