Longun 1 Posted February 6, 2006 Will it be ok to re fit the head when there is a little bit of play in each of the guides. Its just general wear but I can't afford the replacments at the moment but I need the car running. They are only able to move a mm at most probaly not even that much. My old head they were stuffed on could move one valve almost 3 mm each way
Thijs_Rallye 87 4 Cars Posted February 6, 2006 A mm is quite a lot of (too much) play for a valve guide. I think the engine will run though, but I think the valve stem seals will be leaking quite quickly with a mm of play. grz Thijs
Longun 1 Posted February 6, 2006 I don't think its a mm its too small to messure I can just feel a bit of movment. Think it might have to just go back on for now.
base-1 17 Posted February 6, 2006 If it's only temporary, then it has to be better than 3mm of play! Just swap them asap...
Banjo 1 Posted February 6, 2006 (edited) For a temp fix get them reemed(sp) out to get rid of the play, will last for quite a while but it is an engineering bodge. I can recommend a place in Stroud if you have trouble finding a shop to do it. Ben Edited February 6, 2006 by Banjo
