Rob_the_Sparky 10 Posted February 6, 2006 Not necessarily, a poor thermostat can restrict the flow as well. Oh and get those fans fixed sharpish if you want to avoid replacing the head gasket! Rob
Richie-Van-GTi 73 2 Cars Posted February 6, 2006 is it running lean at all?
alexi 0 Posted February 13, 2006 second the thermostat check, its easy to check if it works/ cheap to get it checked at a garage and if it is faulty its cheap to replace. If the car was fine one day then the next day it overheated then the thermostat could be stuck in the shut position and this will cause major overheating, hapened to me. worth a check before you buy a new radiator. yorkshirekowboy 19 1 Cars Posted February 18, 2006 yeah, check the thermostat!!!! that what was wrong with mine, and i went out and bought a new rad!!!! oh well made the engine bay look nicer!!! is your car running lean?, as i have had also experiences with lean running xu's and therefor heat being a prob!!! also try the top expansion tank cap, as these are prone to crack under the cap ; the metal seal/spring causing problems. collateral 0 Posted February 19, 2006 This sounds semi-similar to what's been happening with mine. Getting the thermostat looked at on Friday, so fingers crossed it's that.
