Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport

Recommended Posts

Guest wrinklygit

Just to continue from my earlier newbie post,I have now cured various air leaks on dizzy vacuum pipe & AFM to Thr/body hose, however I still have a huge flatspot, which induces kangarooing between 2-2500rpm.

just put a meter across the TPS & there appears to be a problem at about 1/4 throttle, anybody replaced just the TPS,does it need any setting up (car is late 92,noncat 1.6).I have looked at an earlier car & TPS has

elongated mounting holes, presumambly for adjustment, mine doesn't have this, looks like it bolts straight on.Any advice or source of parts appreciated,MIKE.

Whats wrong with the TPS readings?

The readings should be zero ohms resistance with throttle closed between pins 18 & 2, infinity between 18 & 2 when part open & zero again between pins 18 & 3 at fully throttle.

I've replaced a throttle swicth before but that was due to idling problems & the switch closed reading still being infinity.

There should definately be adjustment on the switch mountings though, can you hear the switch click when you open the throttle & again at full throttle?

Graham.

Hello,TPS can be heard clicking on opening throttle, readings on meter "drop off" in the same way a crackly

volume knob on an amplifier would react(if that makes any sense)MIKE.

that would make sense if the tps was a potentiometer, but its not, its just a switch (on or off)

Thrown meter in skip, rechecked with another meter,TPS is switching at open & close points, plan B is to check CO/mixture (imitation K&N cone filter fitted by previous owner),are there any tests I can carry out on AFM,MIKE.
