Foltan 0 Posted February 2, 2006 Hi, ive got the 307 brakes on now so would like to get a new mastercylinder to go with it because i like shorter pedal travel. My brakes are non-abs, servo'd. Can i fit the 22.2 MC from a 306? (which is for an ABS 306). There doesnt seem to be any other MC bigger than 20.6 and smaller than the 406 MC. Thanks for any help, Sorry if this is boring, but i need to be sure! Ian
DrSeuss 0 Posted February 2, 2006 I think people have had success fitting various 405 master cylinders. 306 master cylinders are all 2 port so you'd need to install splitters to get it back to 4 outputs.

My MC is off a pre '97 306 2.0l convertible (22.2) and has 4 ports. Got it on ebay. Fits and works fine. Foltan 0 Posted February 3, 2006 excellent thanks, i will update on what i buy, and whether it works!!
jochem 0 Posted February 3, 2006 Be sure to check the fitting. Some 306 models have diagonal fitting, where the 205 has horizontal.
Foltan 0 Posted February 3, 2006 is there a way of measuring the size of the MC on a car, or is the difference in size concealed, if that makes sense?!
jackherer 543 Posted February 3, 2006 is there a way of measuring the size of the MC on a car, or is the difference in size concealed, if that makes sense?! most that I've seen have the size stamped on the side of the mc.
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted February 4, 2006 oh ok, yeah any advice on 405 m/cs is good. thanksThe one I have which is four port from a PEUGEOT (88-96) 405 2.0 & MI-16 INC 4X4. Correct flange for mounting to servo & reservoir fits straight on to it. Graham.
DrSeuss 0 Posted February 4, 2006 is there a way of measuring the size of the MC on a car, or is the difference in size concealed, if that makes sense?! Given the cost of a brand spanking master cylinder from www.brakepart.co.uk its worth considering buying new. The saving of buying from a scrapyard could easily be offset by slamming into the car in front.
