Recalibrating Rpm Counter

Hi All.

 

Is there anyway to Recalibrate my RPM Counter as it is out by (-)200-300RPM, Yes I know it's not much, but it's buging the hell out of me.

I think the only way is to pull the needle off and put it back on at a slightly different angle. I don't think any of the clocks are keyed so that the needles fit in only 1 position.

A good precise way of getting the needle reading right, would need you to set the tick over to 2k or more with a rolling road ignition diagnostic tool, note the position of the needle and with two spoons under the sides of needles centre, prize it off the and readjust

mad proffessor can just use the megastim to get a fixed rpm point. But i think you'll find alot of the innacuracy is not a fixed amount but a proportion of the total revs. And is a result of using a spring as part of the mechanism.

Easiest way I'd say would to be to try a few sets of 205 clocks until you find an accurate reading set - both of my cars are accurate to within 100rpm at full revs, but some of the clocks I've used have been miles out...
