Gti 6 Calipers And Master Cylinder.

Hi there, i've fitted some 306 GTI 6 front bakes to my 1.9 and they work fine and are great for atacking country lanes! But the pedal travel is more than with the standard brakes, i read on the forum that due to the extra size of the caliper pistons fitting a GTI 6 master cylinder should cure this. I've fitted GTI 6 master cylinder but this hasn't really made any difference. i've checked all the braking system and everything seems fine, well everythings new! calipers, conpensators, hose's, pipe's.

Has anyone else done this conversion and had these results? any info would be great.

Cheers Rob

Sure it's the MC that's the problem and not play in the linkage?

Try pushing down the brake pedal with you fingers, you should be able to tell whether there's play there or not.

I believe it's a common issue with the GTi6 brake setup on the 205... try a search and see if something helpful comes up :(

forgot to mention that the pedals slower to rise after letting off the brake than it was with the standard brakes?

This doesn't really help, but I fitted GTi-6 fronts to my 309 with a 406 MC (same dia. piston as the 306 but same design as the original 205/309 MC) and the pedal travel was long and the brakes felt s*it.

Waste of time, wish I'd stuck with the standard brakes.

I have the same brake setup only I've got a 405 MC (22.5mm iirc) and there's hardly any pedal travel whch I like. Brakes are fantastic.

I have GTI-6 callippers and MC. Run with this set up with ferrodo 2500, and i've almost no pedal travel and the breaks really bite.

Have you checked the adjustable rod inside the brake servo, that push the MC? If this is too far from the MC piston, you will get long pedal travel.

I guess you have checked the system for air.(bleeding)
