driversdomainuk 8 Posted January 31, 2006 (edited) Hi Not planning anything for this season, but eventually I will want to be getting an engine transplant. Looking for a 2.0 Turbo (ok I will be then in the same class as 700bph+ Audi S1s) but its all fun..... Anyway, would anyone have a ball park figure on how much I should pay for a simple 150bhp engine from a newish (R reg on) Pug 406 Turbo..? I know Ecosse wanted £3000+ but know they are expensive, and are probably pricing in terms of the massive power gains you can get from turbo power... I am sure buying it separate and getting a place to fit will be the way to go? Cheers Edited January 31, 2006 by driversdomainuk
tom_m 0 Posted January 31, 2006 (edited) you can pic up xm turbos for around £2-300 quid, i wouldn't pay much more than that if you're planing on throwing serious money at it (and you'll end up thowing serious money at it... trust me ) Edited January 31, 2006 by tom_m
jackherer 543 Posted January 31, 2006 the 2.0 turbo is a bad choice for a racecar IMO
DrSeuss 0 Posted January 31, 2006 I agree with Jackherer, you want an mi16 on carbs with some manly cams and ignition management.

Cheers guys, But how much could I pick up an engine like that..?? surely it would be far more expensive if I got an MI and did the work seperate (although I do have twin 45 anyway) Why is a turbo car so bad for hillclimbs..? DrSeuss 0 Posted January 31, 2006 Because you can BLATANTLY lie and say its got the same bottom end as the 8v you have now. And thus stay in the same category but be pushing 200hp.
jackherer 543 Posted January 31, 2006 Why is a turbo car so bad for hillclimbs..? other turbo engines may be fine, but the pug 2.0 turbo is the opposite of a performance engine, its lazy to rev and difficult to tune.
