Question About Dizzy Setup With Carbs ?

Recommended Posts

Guest mg3

I am runing a mi16 engine in my 8v 2.0L Volcane.

The mi16 engine has carbs and has a 8v 1.9l carb dizzy with a single coil.

The ecu is still hooked up to the car, in order for the gauges in the car and AC to work.

Is there any way I can hook up ignition setup from the 2.0l 8v engine to run with the carbs ?? Have the ecu controll everything except the fuel ??

If anyone has done this let me know !

Thanks

Mauro

See no reason it shouldn't work just fine - you'll likely need to adapt the throttle sensor to fit the carbs and make a vacuum takeoff from them for the MAP sensor so as to keep the ECU happy, but otherwise it should work fine I'd think. Mi16 has the same 60-2 tooth pickup as the 2.0 8v, so that should be fine.

ECU might flash up various error codes to do with the fuelling (injectors, lambda etc) but I guess the ignition side will carry on working regardless and with the TPS/MAP connected you should get proper part throttle advance fine.
