Yeah I've got one... from my 'personal' experience it's a fantastic upgrade for the money!

However, it seems to have a very mixed view on this forum... have a read of this thread: http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?showtopic=53250

As for it hitting things, my car is pretty low and it's never hit anything :)

good thread that. Funny how people look at something and think "that won't flex its too strong". On my pug if put you finger in between the cage and the shell (by the windscreen - it's supposed to bolt in but not got round to it) whilst driving even slowly your finger gets squashed. So thats the whole shell flexing even with a cage not even hitting big bumps. Further subframe is bound to be quite soft metal to prevent monocoque damage in accident. Way I see it is braces can't hurt (unless you crash on one side when the upper brace will ensure you twist the shell!!)

A good way to prove it is the glass test. Get some thin glass (1mm) and araldite between subframe at two points and drive - if it breaks it flexes !! Can't be bothered though ! It was £30 odd quid, tightened up the front end and looks cool! What a great mod!

I think you'd have to modify a sumpguard to use the lower brace...

Has anyone got a picture of this brace? (on or off the car)

It sounds interesting. Which points does it pick up on?

Its basically a bar that braces between the 2 front wishbone bolts.

Now that I think of it. My old 205 XS had this bar welded in as standard. I suppose it was there because of the proper mcpherson strut design. B)

The 205 is a mcpherson strut design with a proper anti roll bar setup rather than cheap and cheerful antiroll bar cum tracking arm.

I'm not sure what the non-gti subframs look like but the GTi does have a brace bar at the back of the subframe if this is what you're thinking of?

Is it not the case that the Gti models use a modified mcpherson strut design using a lower wishbone to control the movement. Where as the base models use the original design and the extra brace would give much needed stiffness. That's what I was meaning.

About the sub frame, check out the haynes manual to see the bar i'm on about. It was the old-school XY8 twin webered one. :o
