no most aftermarket cams for the tu engine give the biggest gains between 3500 to 6200 they will rev for longer but the big power gain is inbetween those figures

p.s. I can rev to 9200 but thats more down to engine than cam :)

I wouldn't want to do this all the time tho I shift about 7k

TU24 Euro rallye, which is similar has peak power at 6800rpm, redlines at 7000 and is limited to 7100.

Although I would take it up to 7500rpm..

I have the highest spec Road catcam in mine.. With the timing on the edge of pink it is a tiny bit lumpy under 2500 but at about 3500 it just explodes and pulls all the way to the redline. If I'm doing 4000rpm I even drop it and the floor it to 7000.

I have a fairly mild Catcam in mind and regularly hit 7000rpm. I probably don't need to, but hey, I like the noise!

I don't wear glasses...

By the way DaveW, my cam and head may be up for grabs in the next week or 2 if you want a cheap upgrade.

It is the 4901102 on the Catcams website, pretty mild but a good upgrade if you are running a standard carb.

A big Weber 38DGAS. Not perfect low speed driveability, but great above 3000rpm.

The adage about the DGAS is 80% of the power of DCOEs, with 20% of the cost.

Suits me!!

Yes its all about the noise...MENTAL....like my mate mentioned as I overtook his 106 Gti in a tunnel at 7000rpm on 40's. Can you imagine what that sounded like?

I regularly ran my TU3 to 8k, with the later head, 277/280 catcam and bodies, it was still pulling hard there.

Here's a short vid of it with 7250 limit (running in and still working on the mapping) (1.5MB): http://hecticnights.com/tmp/sandy/TU3JMTB.wmv

Here it is revving to 8000rpm (4MB): http://noboost.com/temp/sandy/MOV03093.MPG

ARP bolts or anything? Or just a stock bottom end?

Wonder if you can disable the rev. limiter on monopoint. hmm.

mine is just a stock bottom end this is why I only take it to those hights some of the time

the other thing is I still have power above 8k theres no drop off

I ran my TU3M (106XSI) to 8200rpm on the rollers when it was getting mapped,

the power still hadn't peaked - I just got scared :( .Std bottom end of unknown origins/mileage,Cat cam,Puma head,4-2-1 ,,, limiter is now set at 7800 B) ,pulls from 3-7800 :)

See, now you've cost my son his uni grant, because he just read this, and then the megasquirt group buy thread, and now he's looking at catcams and keeps giving my bike bodies funny glances.
