Jer309GTi 3 Posted January 23, 2006 As above really, was just wondering if the 405 rear beams have the same troubles as 205/309 beams with the bearings failing and ruining the tube? I'm guessing its a very similar design, just bigger. Thanks

I'm guessing its a very similar design, just bigger. Thanks I find the 405 ones to be worse, as the shaft is pressed into the beamtube (not replaceable), and the bearings is in the trailing-arms. Meaning the shafts are not replaceable like on the 205 and hence you would need a completely new beam-tube to refurb it properly.
Anthony 1,003 Posted January 23, 2006 And they seem to fail just as badly too, judging from my 405 and the ones I looked at in the scrapyard for a replacement
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted January 24, 2006 I've also heard they are worse than 205 beams & cost more to fix. Graham.
KRISKARRERA 2 1 Cars Posted January 24, 2006 Glad Miles did mine a few years ago then. The new Civic has a torsion bar.
