i know its been covered before but i couldnt find my exact question and answer. Basically i have a 1.9GTI that im scrapping and a 1.6 CTI that im going to use in the summer, the 1.6 beam is lowerd so i want 2 keep this but can i swap the drums for brakes by changing the stub axels and components or are the beams different.

Beams should be the same spec bar the brake differences.

Take the hubs etc off one axle (including stub axle) & fit it onto the other. (stub axles are different lengths).

Shoud swap straight over.

Graham.

Hi,

Are there any tricks to getting the stub axles out of the arms? Left hand threads or anything? Mine don't seem to want to budge!!

Can the the 1.9 axles still be bought new or do I have to get them from a scrap car?

Thanks

Tim

The holes in the back of the pins for the allen key is a decoy !!

You simply knock the pins through towards the middle of the car using a copper mallett or a hammer and brass or copper drift.

Take care not to damage the thread.

New pins are available from AB Motorsport, West Midlands Motorsport, Skip Brown Cars or Special Tuning, and are about £40+ each

Hi,

Thanks for that, saved me a lot of head scratching!!!

Arms are off the car so I just pushed them out with a press, easy when you know how.

Anyone got a pair of 1.9 rear pins they what to part with and for that mater caliper brackets?

Thanks

Tim
