Has Anyone Got A P.b.v. Fitted To A 1.9?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone fitted a Power boost valve to a 1.9 GTI who can give me an unbiased before and after opinion on it. I have searched for a thread but can't find one. Cheers.

Don't think they do a great deal

Nothing that you can actually feel anyway

I used to alternate between having my car set up by two different garages - one would insist on using a FSE on his rolling road (presumably so he had extra means of fiddling with the fueling) and the other would insist on using a std regulator and setting things up 'by ear'

Can't say there was much difference to feel between the two states of tune

I fitted one and required the timing to be changed, didn't seem to do much that i noticed.

I think on a standard car your going to struggle to notice any difference really.

Your limited on what can be adjusted on a standard 205 injection system, once you start running a bit more power over standard and the air/fuel ratio begins to lean out it might help then.

Only really useful on say a TT where you will need more fuel and to vary the pressure, on a standard engine they are pretty useless and prob do more harm than good unless setup properly.

Waste of time on a standard engine.

Got my 1.9GTi with a k&n, superhip, power boost valve and it ran best when it had the standard ECU and fuel regulator back. The fastest 1.9s are the most standard ones IMO (in terms of bolt on tat).

Does anyone know the ideal application for the constant pressure type? They say not suitable for road use. I assume because of the high pressure but where and when would you use one?

I had one on my 205 and it just ran like a bag of cr@p! We tried to set it up so it ran better but in the end just put the standard one back on and it was much better!
