Spacers And Wide Wheels?

Recommended Posts

simon205Mi16

I am getting some wide arches to put onto my 205 over the next month or two.

But i need to fill them up so was wondering whether to put 225/40/16 tyres on and some spacers???

Is this a good idea or will it drastically effect the handling?

If your going the spacer route,i would use hubcentric ones,so they locate on hub and in wheel,i have a set of 25mm hubcentric ones, gimme a shout if your intersted.

some will say it causes wheel wobble at the front due to the sapcers moving the caster angle out and causing torque steer type effects

think this has been discussed lots :P

you need hub centric to get thuogh a M.O.T so id buy these

i had 15mm spacers on 15 inch gti rims it felt sweet apart from brake shake doubled!! i had to wrestle it till the brakes cooled down

How much do you want for them posted?

torque steer etc im not to bothered with as it does that at the mo anyway.

suppose ill have to see about wheel wobble.

scary about the brakes. is there anyway of getting around it?

wheel balance, tracking etc......

Are you sure? I've never once had my wheels removed during an MOT, and it's basically impossible to tell a hubcentric spacer from a non-hubcentric spacer with the wheel still on the car. So long as the wheel is securely mounted, I can't see how or why it would fail?

Yes 25mm is alot, you may not need them if you have wider wheels,£90 delivered.they come with a set of 16 longer bolts for fitment of after market alloys.ie not flat seated bolts for speedlines

shouldnt get wheel wobble with hubcentrics. :P

are yours the ones which bolt to the hub then the wheels bolt to the spacer or do the wheels bolt through the spacer then into the hub?

Do you have any pics of the 25mm spacers on a 205?

There the ones with longer bolts,so they do not bolt directly to hub.

er yes see my sig 'Green machine' but that was with ford offset wheels

i have a pic with 25mm spacers and 7J peugeot fitment wheels will dig it out later for you

suppose it depends on where you take it too really whether its a really strict place which checks every last detail or whether its a friend who checks over all the major points.
