Auxiliary (alternator) Belt

Recommended Posts

Guest AlasdairCM

Hey,

My alternator belt snapped tonight and I've looked on GSF and have no idea which one I should get to replace it. Anybody got any suggestions on the best one to get?

I'm in a 1.6 Phase 2 if that helps.

ones to get?

Just ask for a standard 205 1.6 gti alternator belt. It doesn't need an upgrade..... does it?!?!?!

If you don't have PAS then T13322 is the part number you need, which it's £3.50 + VAT

If you do have PAS then T13318 is the part number you need, which is £3.75 + VAT

I removed and refitted mine yesterday when I changed the cambelt:

I slackened the 13mm nut which runs in the guide bracket next to the alternator then undid the long 10mm adjustment bolt until I could move the alternator enough to get the old belt off. As yours has snapped you'll just need to rotate the alternator enough until the belt slips on.

Then tension up using the 10mm bolt and lock off the 13mm nut when finished.

Hope this helps

Yeah, cheers, managed to fit it, but the fan stops working intermittently and the belt then slips. Any ideas? THe belt isn't too tight I don't think
