jonD6B 0 Posted January 17, 2006 Is it possible to remove the rev. limiter on a 1.9 8v ECU without changing the chip or is it set within the parameters of the programming? If the limiter is removed is there any power between 6-7000 RPM anyway?
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted January 17, 2006 It is possible by changing or removing a resistor in the ecu but not worth it on an otherwise standard 1.9 GTi. Peak power is at 6000rpm & they generally get wheezy above that & don't like to rev much higher. Standard limiter is set at 6500rpm on the 1.9 ecu. Graham. cybernck 402 1 Cars Posted January 17, 2006 on Jetronic - yes, easy. it's just a certain diode that needs removing iirc. on Motronic - pretty much no, as it has to be chipped.
C_W 3 1 Cars Posted January 17, 2006 As Graham says, its not usually worth it as there is no power up there with a 1.9 8v, its done its best at 6000rpm usually. I don't think I ever hit the limiter with my 1.9 as it never felt like it wanted to pull near it. I'd say the quickest 1.9 8v are the completely standard ones (when comapred to those with bolt-on mods like air filters, exhasut and chip).
jonD6B 0 Posted January 17, 2006 O.K. I'll leave it alone I think. Cheers.
