jonD6B 0 Posted January 16, 2006 Hi, are engine mangement chips for the 1.9 8v 205 worth the £200+ or would I be as well to spend it on head mods? I already have K+n and full Scorpion ehaust. Cheers.
Guest maynard Posted January 16, 2006 According to the website it's 5bhp. Probably won't notcie the difference though :s
Jonmurgie 2 Posted January 16, 2006 Do a search... been discussed a few times before, as have those stupid little things you can buy off eBay that say will give you 15bhp!! Totally and utterly NOT worth it on a 205...
C_W 3 1 Cars Posted January 16, 2006 They don't work, the standard ECU drives best.
jonD6B 0 Posted January 16, 2006 Carbs it is then! Can I run 40's or does it definetly have to be 45's? The head is standard at the mo but I have good intensions of changing that in the future. The other thing is why can't you run a rally/race cam on the standard injection system is it a problem at idle or throughout the rev. range?
DrSeuss 0 Posted January 16, 2006 40's should be suitable for a decent state of tune, might be worth looking at bike carbs. Can't run a race/rally cam due to the idle but really the injection just isn't suited to it. The standard cam is damn lumpy as it is.
jonD6B 0 Posted January 16, 2006 Not knowing much about carbs, are there any types that should or shouldn't be used and do they bolt straight on or should they be mated to the head?(If that makes sense).
Dom9 2 Posted January 16, 2006 You will need an inlet manifold to mate the carbs to the head... Probably best to go with Webers as they are the best supported but you can use Dellorto's as well.. If you do a search there should be plenty of threads about carbs and they often come up for sale in the classifieds on here!

madspikes 41 1 Cars Posted January 16, 2006 I had a superchip on my pug, it got rid of the low speed jumping, selling it on ebay paid for the Megasqurt i'm putting on. Anyway, as far I could see the 'chip' consisted of a couple of standard resistors, a couple of pots and that was it! <£2 from Maplin! Could have been other mods, but couldnt see them. Would like to know if they change anything else.
