309PUG 2 1 Cars Posted January 14, 2006 Hi, Ive had the sump of to fit an uprated spring to the oil pump, come to replace the sump and just noticed that 2 of the sump bolts are shorter than the rest, can anyone enlighten me as to where they go ? I don't really think it matters too much, however I believe the shorter ones go at end near flywheel, Maybe screw them in tentatively with sump off and see how far in they go, only other place looks like might need shorter bolt is under oil cooler/filter. Veero 1 Posted January 14, 2006 Don't those 2 go in the sump spacer. There's 2 recessed bolts holes in the spacer, and I believe those 2 bolts hold it on while you fit the sump. Is this for an mi or 8v? Veero Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

It is possible to use the wrong length bolts there and go into the cap,damaging it and possibly the oil seal too. Make a note and be careful. I've taken a look at my sump baffle too mate. And I was right,the baffle sits between the 3rd and 4th holes from the nearside. It fits closer to 4th hole,just by the side of the drain hole. Thus causing no trouble.
