Ryan 99 Posted January 14, 2006 Where is the little oil filter in the mi16 head supposed to be? I'm guessing it goes in the oil gallery near the water pump, in which case mine is missing. Is it OK to run without one, and am I going to have to sell a kidney to buy one from a dealer?

Is it OK to run without one, and am I going to have to sell a kidney to buy one from a dealer? The oil filter is a stupid plastic thing about 10mm in diameter and about say 30mm long, is is fully plastic and sits in an enlarged part of the oil gallery, from memory it is at the belt side at the front (not at the back near water pump) Mine was disengrated when i dismantled, and my original peugeut rebuild kit didn't have one! I installed head without it vowing to change oil and main engine filter regulary. I had no problems running without it, oil pressure seems similar to before (although it would as mine was disentegrated). I worried about not having it in as someone has said on this forum that under no circumstances leave it out. They didn't elaborate however.
Guest mi16badger Posted January 16, 2006 Hi, its a little plastic thing as mentioned, it goes in the oil feed passage in the head, hiflow heads will supply you with one for about £2.50 and tell you where to put it!
Ryan 99 Posted January 16, 2006 Never mind, I found it! It was in the head all the time. I'd been looking in the larger holes and had ignored the smaller one thinking "it can't possibly be in there!" I was tired, it was dark, bigger boys made me do it... and various other pathetic excuses.
