andymi16 0 Posted January 14, 2006 Picked up a very faded 1.6 yesterday. My ever growing list of bits to be done to restore her to her former days includes new door skins. The doors as always, have suffered from those annoying tiny dents, the rest of the panels are pretty sound. Has anyone any tips on replacing door skins? Cost? Thanks. j_turnell 137 3 Cars Posted January 14, 2006 TBH your better option would be to get a dent master to go over it, or replace the whole door.
Paintguy 0 Posted January 14, 2006 I know it's not really answering your question - but I'd agree with James on this. Replacing door skins is not an easy job to do properly, and it's very easy to end up with a door that doesn't fit correctly, sounds extremely 'tinny' (more than usual of course ), and will be rusty around the seams in a very short space of time. A much better idea is to repair your original doors, either by a dent removal specialist, using filler, or a combination of both. Or keep your eye out for a pair of second hand doors in good condition.
andymi16 0 Posted January 14, 2006 Thanks chaps. I'll be giving that some thought. Pics of your restorations are inspiring.
