SweetBadger 94 Posted January 11, 2006 (edited) Hi, decided to have a go at rebuilding an MI lump, so picked one up cheap (needed bottom end rebuild) and have stripped it down and I'm currently getting the crank reground... Problem is having stripped the head, although the cam lobes look OK and the lifter faces are not worn concave, I think at some stage one of the big end bearings has gone round the oil system in small bits! Consequently all the cam bearing surfaces all have some scoring. It's not too deep but is obvious to the naked eye. Can I still run these cams, or would that result in a noisy top end or low oil pressure? Also if I was to pick up a second hand pair of cams in better fettle, would I have to replace the lifters to prevent both cams and lifters wearing to excess? Thanks, Alex.
